    This is the last of four albums comprising all of Charles Mingus' work for the Candid label, and it contains one previously unsuspected (and of course, unissued) alternate take of great interest.

    Despite it's title and the tracks listed on the Amazon page, this boxed set does not contain the album, "Mysterious Blues." This CD set is a monaural hodge-podge of unidentified tracks supposedly recorded by Mingus, though you can't be sure. There is not a single word of text accompanying the CDs/5(11).

    Although a Mosaic box set claims to have all of Charles Mingus 's Candid recordings, this CD, in addition to four duplications from the box, contains three alternate takes not included elsewhere: "Body and Soul" (featuring trumpeter Roy Eldridge and altoist Eric Dolphy), the Dannie Richmond drum solo "Melody from the Drums" and a septet runthrough on "Reincarnation of a Love Bird.".
